I never thought I would be paying my respects to an animal in an online journal. However, this one deserves it. It appears the dog who played Edie for years on "Frasier" has died. Moose was his real name and he passed away from old age at 16-years-old. For those of you who are mathematically-challenged like myself, that'd be 112 in people years.
I always wondered why they have the dogs/animals go by different names rather than their real name. Wouldn't it actually be easier to train the animal if the actors were calling them by their real name anyway? I guess that's the beauty of their abilities. No matter what they're called, they can perform on cue.
Personally, I was never particularly fond of Jack Terriers until seeing Eddie on the show. They're known for being a little too hyper for my taste; however, he always seemed so low key. He constantly had that look that made you want to pick him up and take him home.
Even without Eddie, "Frasier" was already hilarious. His antics did help a lot though. Very good comedic talent for a canine. Okay, so what if it's tv and they can edit it to fix any miscues that they may have had to get the dog to act right. And, yes, I did waste an entire entry on a dead dog...but doggone-it, he was worth it.
