When it fist premiered a few years ago, I figured "Last Comic Standing" had to be a sure fire hit. Comedy rules. What could be better than a television show that focuses on trying to find the funniest person? You get the benefit of laughing at the people who think they're funny and also those who really are. It did good the first season, even though the wrong guy won. It's back again for what has been so far a lackluster fourth season.
Jay Mohr is gone as the host. I sure would like to know what type of cocaine-induced binge influenced the choice for his replacement, Anthony Clark. He has NO comedic skills whatsoever. It's further evidenced by the fact that he does no stand-up prior to introducing the comics. He can't because he's not even funny himself. I'm guessing if one of the comic's challenged him, he'd go down in a blaze of humiliation.
There really aren't any comics who stand out this season as being overly impressive as there were in past seasons. No Ralphie Mays. No Corey Holcombs. There is this sista named Roz who's pretty god. However, her physical appearance will make her options rather limited even if she does win.
Also, this year the living quarters they put them in is a permanently docked cruise-liner. How is that a prize for getting to the finals? The rooms that they're in aren't even that nice. They look like they're in spaces more cramped than my freshman dorm room in the Towers. Way to go all out on the budget there NBC.
Yeah, this season should be a real doozy.
