Contrary to what the doctors may have said, I think this cat may have died from working himself to death. It just finally caught up with him after all these years. The man with the golden touch, television producer Aaron Spelling, died at age 83. They report it was due to complications from a stroke initially suffered on June 18th.
Most producers live their whole lives hoping to get one hit show. Others will hit every now and then, considering that to be successful. This cat was hitting on a constant basis for years and years. Dude brought us a killer Saturday night line-up in the 80s with "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island". He brought one of Mom's favorites, "Hart to Hart". And let us not forget "Charlie's Angels". All permanent staples of my childhood.
For today's generation, he provided the infamous "Beverly Hills 90210". I'm not even gonna' lie...for a couple of seasons during their college years, I was hooked on it. Even moreso when I later found out it was filmed on Mike's campus.
Unfortunately, he also brought us Tori Spelling, one of the ugliest, overrated women I've ever seen on television. She better be glad her dad was Mr. Spelling because she would have had a hard life otherwise.
It may be quite a while before another producer comes along with that type of nose for success. He left work behind that will have us remembering him from even more years and years, thanks to syndication. Rest in peace, Aaron.
