This one will probably mean absolutely nothing to the folks who don't like sports. It may mean a little more to those who know anything at all about Michigan football. Former Michigan coaching legend Bo Schembechler died today at the age of 77. He was in the middle of taping a football show when he collapsed on the set.
The irony of the whole thing is this occurred on the eve of one of the biggest football games in a long time. The Michigan/Ohio State game has been one of the oldest rivalries in college football but it's the first time in a LONG time they will meet as the #1 and #2 teams in the nation.
Bo made Michigan a powerhouse back during my high school and college years. The thing I remember about him most was his take on Iowa's visiting locker room which is painted pink. He demanded that every time they came to Iowa that his people have wallpaper put up over the walls to cover the pacifying color.
Personally, I think that Ohio State is going to come out victorious this Saturday. However, the passing of a Michigan legend probably provided an additional spark that the Wolverines can use to make this a close contest. We shall see.
Rest in peace, Coach.
