Actually, I had never even heard of those things until their ad aired. It was one of the few commercials that I immensely enjoyed during Super Bowl XL. Their advertising department was saavy enough to know that funny is usually those obscure things that seem out of place enough to be hilarious. Enter Robert Goulet.
I will be perfectly honest and say that I had little knowledge of Goulet at all. I knew the name and for some reason, I seemed to associate him with a Vegas act somewhere along the lines of a Wayne Newton. It matters little now.
Goulet died Tuesday at 73. He had been staying in a Los Angeles hospital awaiting a lung transplant, suffering from a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis.
Apparently Goulet was also known for gaining stardom in the musical "Camelot". Never seen it. His memory with me will now always be that timeless Emerald Nuts commercial. Thanks for the memories, Bob...
