Every year I get it wrong. Not the date. Of course I can never forget that it falls on December 20th. I mean how many years they have been married. I'm always off by one year. I'm going to attribute it to my old age for mis-remembering. Even though I clearly should have remembered that last year was the 40th year milestone instead of this year.
At any rate, this year the best Mom and Dad in the world celebrate 41 years of being married. I know for sure I got the number right this time because Diah confirmed it. Then I also talked to Mom to make doubly sure. Maybe next year it would be in my best interest to check my own entry from the year prior to make sure I don't get it wrong yet again.
I tried to pick out the perfect picture to use for this entry. If I had been thinking, I would have asked Mom and Dad to do a couple shoot for me while I was there for Thanksgiving to get some really good recent pics of them. Instead, I ended up getting this candid picture that I just now realized didn't come out as clear as I would have liked. I'll have to make sure to plan ahead better the next time I visit.
I thought for sure that they would have dinner at a nice restaurant to celebrate. Although to be honest, I'm don't even know what would classify as such in Bloomington. The one spot that I never thought would fall into that category was Friday's. However, that's where they dined.
Mom brought up a good point by stating that's where they wanted to go so that's where they went. 'Nuff said. Plus, I don't care what anyone says Friday's really does have some good food. I could eat their shrimp and chicken pasta for dinner every day and be totally content. I would be totally fat too, but I'm just saying they know how to make some great dishes.
The more I thought about it the more I realized that such a spot was perfect for such an occasion for my parents. My folks are very down to earth. No matter how well they are doing they never carry themselves with fancy airs that would have one thinking they are too good for a place like Friday's. After 41 years of marriage they still enjoy the simple things in life. Friday's should consider themselves lucky to have had Mom and Dad as dinner guests that evening.
Love you Mom and Dad!
