I have to admit that I still don't fully understand how bullying is getting such national attention lately. The President even had a special symposium about it. It's something that has been going on for as long as any of us can remember. Something that was just part of growing up. But since the age of the internet, more teenage suicides have come to forefront as being connected with bullying which caused folks to hit the panic button.
During my time in high school there was small nearby town called Carlisle that had a problem with suicides. Four teenagers killed themselves in four years. Many of us never found out why. How much do you want to bet that at least a couple of them had something to do with bullying? And that was just at that school. We didn't have internet then to sensationalize what had happened. Neither did other schools where I'm sure similar things had occurred. But now it's a national epidemic? Well if that's where we are then might as well talk about once incident in particular that shows a positive result.
This video has been making the rounds on the internet like crazy. It has become a regular on The Book with many folks applauding the behavior of "Casey" who is recorded standing up to a bully. I was a little hesitant to speak on it at first because you know how I am about viral videos involving people. It's sometimes too difficult to tell if they're staged or genuine. You can check this one out and see that its about 95% certain that it is authentic. Click here to view it. Do it quick though because from what I can tell it's been removed from several sites so it's just a matter of time before this link doesn't work either.
I'm going to need someone to explain to me why this scrawny little kid thought he could bully someone twice his size in the first place. That's why I thought there was a good chance this video was also a hoax. No kid could be that stupid to think they could intimidate someone twice their size, could they? Well apparently so. Which is exactly why the kid got exactly what was coming to him.
I still want to know where all the adults were while this whole thing was happening. It looks like it goes on for a while. Long enough that some adults should have noticed. Aren't they supposed to be strategically positioned outside of locations like that around the school to make sure situations like these don't happen? It's a shame that it had to get internet wide exposure for the school to see that they were lacking in their supervision skills, but I know I'm not the only one who appreciates it.
The latest news is that the mother of the bully is looking for an apology from the kid that defended himself. Umm..she did see the video where her son hit Casey in the face right? She needs to keep her mouth shut and be glad that her son ONLY got slammed on the ground as a result. That kid FULLY deserved that WWE slam he got. He's lucky that Casey didn't then kick him. Or maybe even sit on him to squeeze the life out of him.
Regardless of what type of physical abuse the bully received, nothing compares to the exposure he now has on the internet. He quickly became the poster boy for what happens when bullying goes wrong. The thing about it is bullying is never right anyway. This is a prime example why. It will never end well for either party involved. Although in this case, I personally like how it ended up for the bully.
