Okay, this is really getting bad that there are so many posts about death. You all will have to bear with me as I really am trying. I was actually going to even let this one slide by without saying anything. Simply because I didn't think I knew who the guy was. Despite the fact that he is well known in the Texas area. But when I got a better idea of exactly who he was, I had to say something.
Texas-based morning radio talkshow host Kidd Kraddick passed away due to a brain aneurysm while at a golf charity event this past Saturday. He was only 53-years-old.
At first, I had no clue who this cat was. At least not by the name. But that's only because apparently I didn't know who I had been listening to for a few minutes in the mornings. I found his show entirely by accident one day. I was trying to find an additional show to put on my morning rotation so I could have another alternative when Ricky Smiley, Dee Dee in the Morning, the TJMS and even Mike and Mike are all on commercial. That's when I found his show.
Originally, I was feeling a bit nostalgic for a show I used to listen to occasionally in Des Moines: Elvis Duran. I knew he was on syndication on KISS-FM so I searched for the KISS affiliate here. That unknowingly led me to Kraddick's show. Only I had no idea what I was listening to. I just knew that it wasn't the Elvis Duran crew. I actually only kept it on the station because they were doing some type of entertainment news rundown that was rather entertaining. Ever since finding it, I kept it in my morning rotation as another option to get away from commercials. Although to be honest, with all of the other competition on my radio, it doesn't stay on that station long.
The one good thing in the midst of his passing was at least dude died doing something he enjoyed doing. Not only that, but it was while raising money to help others. You can't get much better than that. They should make sure that his show continues in his absence as his benevolent nature shows that's something he would have definitely wanted.
Rest in peace, Kidd.
