Mr. Bungles

This whole political process thing never ceases to amaze me.  That's why I had to make sure to give it some attention with this week's post.  And contrary to what you think, the fact that there's a whole lot more red around the country now has nothing to do with why it's a Bungles category this week.  It's just that the whole process as a whole always amounts to a no-win situation.

I really don't put as much stock into all of the Democratic upsets  around the country as everyone else does.  Didn't we already know that once Obama got into office that folks would do everything they could to make it hell for him?  If that meant voters had to get some of his Democratic supporters out of office then that's exactly what they were going to do.  Everyone should have seen that coming.  But there's a couple of things about that...

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't that usually happen right about this time during the first term of a new President?  Folks get upset that the new guy is shaking things up so they turn out in record numbers to vote for the other side.  Then the folks who helped get that President in office think they have already done their job by voting that guy in two years prior so they don't get out in numbers quite as big.  The American public is just wishy-washy like that so we all should have seen that coming.

Having said that, we should also know that it will eventually lead to a good thing for President Obama.  Sure, he'll have problems getting his policies to go through now, but guess what?  All these new Republicans (and a few Tea Party members) aren't going to be able to make a difference either.  Of course they won't be able to undo what Bush did in 8 years.  If the POTUS couldn't do it two years then you know they won't be able to.  But the fact that they will try and ultimately fail will be just in time for the next Presidential election.  Then guess what will happen as a result?  Yep...President Obama will get re-elected because all of their posturing would have backfired.

It's that very posturing which lead me to create this post in the first place. nothing It's something that I don't think I've ever touched on.  I firmly believe that the whole political game is nothign more than a WWE pay-per-view event.  Both sides act like they can't stand one another to keep us interested.  However, they know that whenever they get into office they will ultimately make sure they get richer.  The only real difference between the Dems and The Reps is one side is not as conspicuous about their goal to get richer as the other side is.

So we'll see how this whole thing shakes out over these next two years.  I can't wait to hear what new excuses folks will come up with as things will continue to not change overnight.  They will be all befuddled because they went and voted in all these people who made promises that they could bring about just such a thing.  Folks are going to find out the hard way that voting along party lines is not the solution to the problem. 

What a Bunch of Teabags

I have been quiet on this topic long enough.  Partly because I didn't want to give them any more publicity than they already have.  Of course then it dawned on me that it's not like I get a ton of traffic anyway so what do they really gain by getting "shine" on my site?  Nothing more than me ranting about them.  So the more I thought about it the more I figured it was okay with that.

The thing is I have no problem with differing viewpoints.  I'm all for diversity in that regards.  For instance, I may not agree with everything that Republicans stand for and/or represent, but at least I can appreciate where they're coming from.  Even the most radical of them have a bit of intelligence about them.  Even if it is misguided.  That is not the case with the Teabaggers at all. 

These folks want to act like they are all about "taking America back" from an overbearing government.  If that was truly the case, where were they during the Bush reign?  Where were they while the country was going to hell in a handbasket during those eight years?  It's a little funny that they want to come out of the woodwork now.  Actually, "funny" isn't the correct word at all.  It's more like convenient.

So how does the whole ignorance thing factor in?  Simple...because they use the government's actions as the premise for their being, yet they act entirely contrary to that purpose.  They want to attack President Obama with derogatory comments and/or posters.  When they're not trying to broadstroke his administration they resort to other means.  Like going after the color of his skin.  And then they are exposed for what they really are.

The self-proclaimed teabaggers are really nothing more than a bunch of blatant racists.  It drives them crazy that we have a Black president.  They could care less about what his politics are.  They aren't even listening anyway.  All they care about is that the leader of the free world doesn't share their same complexion and they can't stand it.

I think I reached my breaking point over something that probably should have been rather minuscule.  Oh, don't get me wrong....the whole "colored" letter from their party leader set me off too.  However, this particular incident hit closer to home.  I discovered that one of my Facebook "friends" was spamming folks with posts about the Tea Party.  I made it perfectly clear that anyone who supports them apparently has NOTHING in common with me and we should therefore terminate all affiliations with one another.  Have your own viewpoint if you want, just don't come around me with foolishness.

O the Randomness

It's been a while since I went off on a group of unrelated ramblings.  I'm not counting the BET entry or the NBA Finals.  I've had a lot of arbitrary musings running thru my head so I figured I would share them...

I really got in a zone this afternoon at work.  I was a multitasking fool.  Handling phone calls, the worklist, diary items and e-mails all without skipping a beat.  I think it was that Mountain Dew

Some study ranked Kansas City the third most patriotic city in the U.S.  Part of the findings were based off fireworks sales.  Then it's no wonder that's the case because TONS of people cross the state line here in Iowa to buy fireworks at that fireworks outlet store in Eagleville.  All because they're illegal in Iowa.  So Iowa could not only increase their income by making fireworks legal, but also vie for a spot on that patriotic list

I don't know if Al Gore did or didn't do something what that massage therapist, but would it really surprise you if he did?  He ran around with President Clinton and his wife was Tipper Gore.  I'm just a little shocked that the gal kept some nasty stained pants in her possession for the past several years

The Tom Joyner Morning Show wants us to vote for Sybil to co-host with Regis Philbin for a few days.  No offense to her, but she should know she doesn't stand a chance.  He still refers to Kelly Ripa as Kathie Lee every now and then and Kathie Lee has been gone forever so you KNOW he doesn't know who Sybil is

Kim Kardashian seriously got her own wax statue at Madame Tussaud's??  It's unbelievable that the celebrity selections have gotten so thin that she qualified

I had been looking forward to going to Uncle Ben's Chili Bowl for the longest time then I mess around and don't do it while I'm in DC.  I really need to get back there

Thoughts and prayers go out to Randall Cunningham and his family.  His 2-year-old son died in a hot tub accident yesterday.  It sucks that bad things have to happen to good people.  Randall still remains my favorite quarterback to every play in the NFL

On a lighter note....congratulations to Tiger and his latest endorsement. He's going to need it after that divorce settlement.  Elin is going to walk away with over $600 MILLION!  I can't even express how crazy that is.  How much you want to bet Tiger stays single for a LONG time?

This lady I called at work had a voicemail that said to call her supervisor if she doesn't return your phone call within 24-hours.  That must be part of their edict for their job because I'll be doggone if I put that on my voicemail

It's funny that brothas are behind the success of two of the current biggest pop stars out there:  Lady Gaga  and Justin Beiber (Akon put Gaga on and Usher did it for Beiber).  You usually find those roles reversed

And just like that I get an e-mail five minutes prior to quitting time that knocks me off my high.  Well that was fun while it lasted

I swear that light just a couple of blocks from my house has a vendetta against me.  It doesn't matter what time of day it is or from what direction I'm coming, it is ALWAYS red by the time I get there

With the exception of my Prince encounter, my brushes with greatness haven't been that great.  There was the goatee guy from Day 26 (I guess his name is Will) and recently Tyson Gay on an airplane.  Oh wait...I forgot about President Clinton at the caucus a couple of years back.  Still, I really need to get out more

Palin on Oprah Randomness

Don't ask me why I was watching because I still don't really know myself.  I would have much rather watched the Oprah episode featuring the chimp attack victim.  I'm fairly certain she would have been much more interesting than  Sarah Palin.

I can't believe I never brought this up before at any point during her "campaign run", but MAN is Palin's voice annoying.  I can't quite put my finger on what it is.  It's like a combination between chalk scraping on the chalkboard, someone trying to do a souther accent that can't pull it off and a whiny older person drolling on about some whippersnappers that won't get off their lawn.

I still contend that they didn't lose the election because of what Palid did as the VP candidate.  They lost because they selected her as a VP candidate.  Oh....AND because of what she did as the VP candidate

That Katie Couric interview with the magazines question still cracks me up.  Not near as much as the Terry Tate version of the clip though.  In all fairness, I seriously think she was just nervous which is why she answered so stupidly.  She finally has her chance to come clean about that on Oprah and she STILL won't admit it.  You were nervous.  It's okay to say it.

Palin did not just call Katie Couric the perky one did she?  She does realize who she is, doesn't she?  Palin's perkier than Katie could ever hope to be.  I think she got her "p" words mixed up.  She meant so call Couric the professional one.

That "Trip" baby is one of the ugliest babies I have ever seen.  They really shouldn't have showed a picture.  And the fact that Palin kept going on and on about how beautiful the baby is was NOT helping the situation.

As for her and Levi that would have been her son-in-law, I seriously doubt that.  That was only going to happen if they won the election.  Anyone with any common sense knew he would be dismissed once they didn't win.

Wait...did she just say quit because she wasn't going to run a second term?  Do you know how idiotic that sounds?  If you didn't want to run then don't run.  You're still supposed to finish your term.  You quit because you had all those ethic charges on you and you couldn't stand the heat.  Just tell the truth. 

Oh...and you can call it "resigning" all you want.  You quit.  You're a quitter.  Good thing that came near the end of the interview because that point, I was truly done.

Soupy Sales died.  Many folks my age and younger (myself included) couldn't name a show and/or a single movie he played in if you paid us, but we recognize the name.  Anyway, rest in peace, Soups.

Whatever happened to Charlie Pride?

I wonder if the "Saw" movies will eventually surpass the "Friday the 13th" franchise and churn out over 13 installments.  Pretty sure it will happen.

I'm determined to win one of those prizes in that McDonald's Monopoly game.  And not one of the freebie breakfast sammiches and/or medium drinks.

If I don't win anything again this year, I am confident that those "winners" they list and name are all actors.

After a disagreement with a Papa's Murphy pizza (which I lost decisively), I am convinced I won't ever be doing any "Man vs. Food" challenges

I wonder if NFL teams have a play or two designed to purposely use that ref in the middle of the field as interference

Time to step up my game for the 31 Days of Horror Marathon.  I'll have to watch about two a day for the rest of the week to get 31 in for the month.  I don't see that happening.

It's hard to be an Iowa Hawkeye hater when they're #4 in the polls and representing for the entire state.  Although it's making their fans that much more obnoxious and we can all do without that.

The next time I decide to get out of pocket, I'm going to blame it on the rain...or the boogie...haven't decided which yet

So Lionel Ritchie's cut "Hello" was really kinda stalkerish.  Even the music sounds a little horror movie-ish.  How did I not pick up on that before?

It doesn't change the fact that I had a crush on the blind girl from that video for the longest.  Whatever happened to her?

I used to know how to make hospital corners.  I couldn't do it now if you paid me.

Now they're trying to imply President Obama is sexist because he doesn't have any women play ball with him when he hoops?  Give me a break already

A FB friend of mine introduced me to a new interesting site:  www.iseecolor.com.  It appears to be very time-consuming if you get caught up in some of the forums out there, but some of the conversations are very interesting.

Facebook is killing me with their "Reconnect with" suggestions.  What they really should be suggesting is that we delete those friends since it's obvious they never use FB.

Things to Be Grateful For

I should just go ahead and make 'O the Randomness" a regular weekly featurelike I do Thursday Throwback or Mr. Bungles.

Of course then it wouldn't be very random, now would it?

Speaking of Mr. Bungles, after the President's speech last nite, I'll give you three guesses at who's getting this week's award and your first two don't count.

I found a new guilty pleasure on cable:  "Hoarders".  The only thing is you have to make sure you're not eating while you're watching it.  Found that out the hard way.

Allen Iverson going to the Memphis Grizzlies is about the saddest thing in the NBA since Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Wizards.  Almost.

HUGE game this weekend here in Iowa.  Iowa State vs. Iowa.  In Ames, no less.  I thought for a second there that ISU would be in trouble, but after seeing Iowa against UNI, I like our chances.

FINALLY got the tags for my car.  It would have been nice if the dealer told me they had them there instead of me sitting here thinking they were going to be mailing them to me.

My break from horror films is going to have to wait until after I watch "[REC]" which is already on its way here from Netflix.

I ashamedly admit that I have a little inkling to see "Sorority Row" after the trailers make it look rather interesting.

Then again, I though that with "The Final Destination 3D" and we saw how well that worked out.

I know they're frat and all, but I swear if get ONE more e-mail on Facebook and/or see one more post about the Alpha Eta chapter Back -to-School party...

I'm finally beginning to slowly navigate my way around West Des Moines.  Just so I can end up moving again in a couple of weeks.

Someone remind me to defrag my hard drive tonite because my lappy is running WAY slow.

So I'm guess I'm going to the Norwalk football game tonite since G wants to see my former high school play football.  This should be interesting.  Norwalk's football program has never been very impressive.

All-4-One reunited, huh?  Well I guess if New Kids can go touring, then why not All-4-One?  Even though their group is just a Boyz II Men knock-off.

I'm still holding out for that Troop reunion.

Last nite's game was a heckuva way to kick off the NFL season.  Yet an even further reminder that baseball needs to go somewhere and stay gone.

The Iowa Air National Guard recruiter won't return my calls regarding OCS.  That must be a sign.

Some folks really need to realize that closed-toe sandals were designed specifically with them in mind.  Elegant nail polish is not going to hide the fact that you got some jacked up feet.

Not looking forward to this weekend when Elijah returns home and G leaves just to be moving to Ames shortly.

Although I will be glad when I am settled in one place as opposed to having my things in a few different locations.

How did I miss the fact that we had a meteor shower?  That would have been pretty cool to see.

This kid's parents want to blame YouTube for him setting himself on fire.  Umm...if your kid sets himself on fire regardless of what reason, he apparently already had some issues that YouTube had nothing to do with.

Michael Vick may go to the Bears?  I can see that.  Lovie Smith is just the coach that he would need. 

Some woman "not in her senses" threw a mug at the Mona Lisa.  Have you ever really taken a good look at that painting?  I've always wondered why it's a classic when dude (yep...I said it) is really pretty homely looking.  Not that it warrants a mug being thrown at it, but I'm just sayin'...

State Fair starts tomorrow.  I know I said I wasn't going to go because of the whole MJ butter sculpture ridiculous but Elijah and G really want to.  So I guess I'm going to the Fair afterall.

Speaking of MJ...I swear if ONE more person comes forward talking about he/she is the biological parent of one of his shorties, I just might lose it.

And I'm still not sure what's worse...the idiots that make the claims or the idiots that feel the need to give them screen time by interviewing them.

I'm looking forward to seeing  "Inglorious Bastards" even though I never saw the original.

So glad NFL has started.  Don't care if it's preseason.  I'll watch an NFL preseason game over ANY type of baseball game any day of the week.

This healthcare fuss continues to amaze me.  I see now why all the past presidents were always afraid to address it during their administrations.

I need to do a blogroll cleansing like I did on FB.  Some of my blogroll friends haven't updated their blogs in months.

It's pretty sad that when I watch "iCarly" with G, I end up laughing at more of the jokes than he does.  It is a surprisingly good show though.

Women my mom's age should NOT be getting tats.  As a matter of fact, guys my dad's age shouldn't either.

O the Randomness

I'm a little surprised that Kobe Bryant's introduction at Staples Center is so plain.  They say his name like he's just a normal player.  I would have thought the announcer would give his name more flare since he's basically the reason the Lakers are where they are.

Isn't about time they go ahead and update the NBA logo to Michael Jordan's silhouette? 

I guess Amway is still around since they apparently own an entire arena.  That doesn't come cheap.  But I'll be doggone if I have ever seen anyone selling Amway lately.

Thoughts and prayers definitely go out to the Mike Tyson and his family for the loss of his 4-year-old daughter.  However, I can't help but wonder how in the world she was left unattended long enough to get tangled up in a treadmill cord.  Can't wait to hear the story of how that was possible.

I have a new pet peeve.  I know...hard to believe there is something that actually irritates me, huh?  Anyway, it's people that walk in the street when there's  a perfectly good sidewalk available.  Makes me just hope there's a puddle close by so I can drive thru it and soak them.

The online streaming is up and running at work again.  I can finally hear Doug and DeDe on the Ride in the afternoon. 

Now that the streaming is back, what's up with them not doing DeDe's Five Things You Need to Know Right Now anymore?  Or did they just change the time they do it and I'm missing it?

Chris Anderson, aka "The Birdman" from the Denver Nuggets is a straight up BEAST!  He could mess around and get Defensive Player of the Year next year if he applies himself.

So Ashton Kutcher might stop Twittering over some controversy about a possible Twitter reality show.  Not sure which is more ridiculous...the fact that someone thinks a reality show about Twitter is a good idea or that Ashton not Twittering anymore made one of the top stories on CNN.

As promised, I didn't watch any of the actual competition portion of "American Idol" this season.  Didn't see the point.  However, I once again think it's hilarious that folks are claiming there were voting irregularities.  "American Idol" possibly rigged?!  Get out!

I never will understand the whole sneaker collection infatuation.  It's definitely a rich people thing.  Us average folks don't have the loot to spend $100+ on a pair of sneakers that you can only wear a couple of times (or not at all) because you want to preserve their authenticity

It's been a couple of days now since we last heard from Crazy Dick.  Cheney's about due for another one of his outbursts.  Funny how he's in the White House for 8 years and the most we ever hear out of him is apologizing about shooting his friends in the face while his boss screws us all over.  But NOW he wants to act like he has something to say.  Uh-huh...I'm gonna need you to go somewhere, sit down and shut up.
