There was no way I would have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. I heard on the radio this morning that the New York Post had the "cartoon" in their paper today, but it just seemed too incredulous. How could they possibly allow something so overtly racist to be published in a (semi) credible publication?!
Supposedly, it all started with the news of the chimp attacking a lady which we all heard about yesterday. The irony is that story in itself was not funny. It was rather sad that some lady was keeping a chimp as a pet and was not intelligent enough to realize that it could snap at any time. The monkey attacked an innocent person and would have killed her had the cops not justifiably killed it.
Having said that, how in the world does the Post think that comparing that tragedy to the stimulus bill would be amusing? Easy. Because they clearly weren't going for jokes at all. There's no way the could have been since there's nothing funny about it all. What they were doing was going for controversy. They knew full well that associating the monkey with the writing of the stimulus bill would be implying that President Obama is a monkey.
I know what the Post's feeble argument will naturally be. That they were trying to say they don't agree with the bill and that was their way of saying that it was so poorly written that a monkey could have done it. Whatever. They can spin it however they want and it still comes out that they were wrong.
Since we don't get the Post here (thankfully), I haven't had a chance to read an issue or two. However, from what I have seen of their online site and past indiscretions they have had, I expect something like this from them. Their content looks to be a mix of Enquirer-type tabloid rag dabbled with just a little bit of legitimate journalism. This was just a weak attempt at them to kick up some sand to get folks talking about newspapers. Well it worked. Congratulations on being racists in order to accomplish that goal, New York Post.
New York Post...credible? Dude...you serious?

Exactly. Notice I did put it in parentheses. And even that was only because the sometimes get some stories accurate. Sometimes
